Organisation of the Nursery
The nursery is organised in 2 areas, the Under 3’s and Over 3’s (Nursery School). Kim Short leads the Under 3’s provision and Tracy Swaffer, the deputy head/SENCO leads the Over 3’s. Both elements of the provision work closely together to ensure the sharing of good practice and the effective provision of excellent educational experiences for children across the whole age group.
The staff work closely together to ensure the seamless transition through from Under to Over 3’s provision.
Our Under 3’s provision has been set up to provide full day care facilities for working parents and therefore offers places and operates in a slightly different way to the Over 3’s.
Under 3’s operate 2 sessions a day 8am – 1pm and 1pm – 6pm. Children under 2 must take up their places over 2 full days to ensure we are able to build up good relationships. On reaching the age of 2 children must take up a minimum of 2 sessions.
The Over 3’s is a sessional provision offering the 15 hour Free Entitlement sessions over either 5 mornings (9-12) or 5 afternoons (1-4) alternatively some 2½ day places are available - either Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon Thursday and Friday. Parents choosing this option will need to pay for lunches on the full days.
From September 2017 parents will be able to access the 30 hour Free Entitlement if they are eligible (click here to check eligibility). Parents will need to choose a core session as detailed above, and can then add additional sessions including breakfast, lunch and tea to best meet their needs. Sessions however must be consecutive.
Extended sessions can be purchased for parents not eligible for the 30 hours, e.g. breakfast, lunch and tea, enabling them to access provision from 8am – 6pm during term time.
A holiday club operates during the school holidays and parents can book this through the nursery office. Holiday sessions run from 8am - 1pm and 1pm - 6pm and are led by familiar and consistent staff working across the whole year.
There are no retainers charged for holiday club and parents can choose to have as many or as few sessions as they require.
